As part of this effort, Škoda Auto sought to modernize its internal Production Preparation System (PPS) — a legacy ERP solution used for managing tool shops and equipment operations within its manufacturing plants.
Challenge
The legacy PPS system had become difficult to maintain and extend, limiting productivity and scalability. Manual workflows and fragmented data management made it challenging to track and control tools efficiently.
Škoda Auto needed a modern, web-based system that could seamlessly integrate with existing enterprise solutions such as SAP and proprietary production systems, while improving usability, automation, and system reliability.
Our Approach
ITIXO provided one of multiple development teams who together developed a comprehensive web application ecosystem for tool shop management. ITIXO team focused mainly on two main modules — Tool Management and Tool Issue Room — and dozens of backend services operating independently. The solution was built on a service-oriented architecture with asynchronous communication via messaging, allowing modules to run and scale autonomously.
The system includes a personalized user interface with configurable layouts, filters, and dashboards based on user roles. Deployment is fully automated through CI/CD pipelines, ensuring rapid and reliable delivery of new features.
Result
The new PPS platform transformed tool management operations within Škoda Auto, replacing the outdated ERP with a modular, cloud-native solution hosted on AWS. This brought faster performance, better integration with internal systems, and improved visibility across tool usage and inventory.
Thanks to automation, scalability, and a user-friendly interface, the solution significantly increased efficiency and reduced manual overhead in day-to-day operations, supporting Škoda Auto’s long-term digitalization strategy.
